COURSE CURRICULUM

This program provides a well-rounded progression of scientific learning, practical training, and professional skill development that prepares students to design and deliver effective health and fitness programs. Semester 1 introduces core concepts through courses in anatomy and physiology, fitness assessment, nutrition, human growth and development, physical literacy, and communication. Building on this foundation, Semester 2 expands students’ expertise with exercise physiology, exercise prescription, health promotion, special populations, and entrepreneurship, supported by a General Education elective. Semester 3 strengthens applied competencies with group exercise leadership, advanced fitness assessment, motor learning, biomechanical analysis, placement preparation, and introductory psychology, allowing students to deepen their understanding of movement and develop strong coaching skills. Semester 4 shifts toward professional application with advanced exercise prescription, exercise counselling, applied physical literacy, and a placement internship that provides valuable hands-on experience in real fitness and wellness environments. Through its blend of science, practice, and client-focused learning, the program equips students with the confidence and capabilities needed to support diverse populations in achieving healthier, more active lifestyles while preparing them for career opportunities or continued studies in the fitness, health promotion, and recreation fields.
