COURSE CURRICULUM

The two-year Computer Systems Technician program equips students with the skills and knowledge required for careers in IT administration, networking and system management. In the first semester, students build foundational skills in computer systems, networks, Microsoft services, Linux and strategic problem solving, along with professional communication. The second semester emphasizes static networks, Microsoft server administration, open systems servers and system security, with additional general education courses to enhance critical thinking and workplace readiness. In the third semester, students advance their expertise in software-defined networks, database systems, Microsoft cloud technologies, open system application servers and security incident response while preparing for work-integrated learning. The program includes a co-op term, allowing students to apply their technical knowledge in real-world environments and gain practical experience. In the final semester, students focus on wireless networks, cloud administration, open system administration and project-based learning, including on-premises networking and server administration projects. Professional options such as cloud environments, IT security, ethical and legal issues, programming, project management, technical support and Windows server administration further develop specialized skills. By the end of the program, graduates are prepared to design, implement and manage wired and wireless networks, configure and maintain servers, administer cloud environments and address security challenges, entering the IT industry with hands-on experience, problem-solving abilities and job-ready technical competence.
