COURSE CURRICULUM

The Independent Music Production program spans two semesters, offering an intensive, hands-on approach to developing technical, creative, and business skills for aspiring independent artists. In the first semester, students focus on foundational courses including Audio and Studio I, Sound and Recording I, Songwriting I, Music Theory and History, Industry Overview, and Business I, providing a balance of practical music production, theoretical knowledge, and industry context. Students also advance their recording and production skills through Audio and Studio II, Sound and Recording II, MIDI introduction, Songwriting II, Artist Development, Business II, and Photography, building a strong portfolio and understanding of music as both art and business. In the second semester, the program emphasizes advanced production and industry readiness with courses such as Production Mastering I and II, Sound and Recording III, Mentoring, Live Sound, Artist Development II and III, Musical Collaborations, Marketing and Promotion, Small Business I and II, Copyrights, Contracts, Legal, and Merchandising, Duplication and Distribution. The semester culminates with a Major Project, allowing students to integrate creative, technical, and business skills into a comprehensive professional work. By the end of the program, graduates possess the expertise to independently produce, perform, market, and manage their music careers, equipped with industry knowledge, practical experience, and the entrepreneurial skills necessary to succeed as independent artists in the competitive music industry.
