COURSE CURRICULUM

The Hospitality Services certificate program at Seneca Polytechnic is completed over two semesters and offers a comprehensive curriculum focused on preparing students for careers in the hospitality industry. In Semester 1, students develop foundational skills through courses such as Communicating Across Contexts (COM101 or COM111), Service Leadership (HSP101), Math in Hospitality (HTM102), Hotel Front Office Operations and Management (HTM105), Dining Room Service Management (HTM205), Computer Essentials (TCS200), and Business of Tourism (TRV106). These courses are offered in various formats including in-person, online, hybrid, and flexible delivery, allowing for adaptable learning. Semester 2 builds on this foundation with specialized and practical training in Food, Theory and Practice (HSP203), Housekeeping Management (HTM215), Food and Beverage Operations Management (HTM220), Career Strategies for Hospitality (HTM299), and Services Marketing (MRK233). Students also choose two Professional Options from courses such as Catering Management (HTM405), Baking and Confectionary (HTM412), and Live Event Planning and Execution (HTM416), which provide opportunities to explore specific areas of interest in greater depth. These options may have varied availability depending on the term. Throughout the program, students earn industry certifications, build practical skills, and gain valuable experience that prepares them to work in hotels, restaurants, catering, and event settings across the hospitality sector.
