COURSE CURRICULUM

The Floral Design certificate program spans eight months and combines hands-on learning with theoretical study to prepare students for a professional career in floral artistry. In the first semester, students develop foundational skills through courses such as Communicating Across Contexts, Evolution of Design, Client Services, and Floral Design Lab, which focus on understanding design principles, client relations, and practical floral techniques. Field Work Experience and Floral Design Explorations provide immersive opportunities to apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings, cultivating both technical proficiency and creative expression. In the second semester, students advance their expertise through courses including Floral Design Portfolio, Botanicals, Design for Special Events, Floral Artistry, and Floral Design Concepts, which emphasize specialized arrangements, event-focused design, and the creation of a cohesive portfolio showcasing a range of floral styles and competencies. Field Work Experience II continues to offer practical application, allowing students to refine their craft in professional environments. Throughout the program, students develop a strong understanding of colour, materials, spatial composition, and arrangement techniques while enhancing artistry, creativity, and professional presentation. Graduates emerge equipped with the knowledge, skills, and portfolio needed to succeed in the floral industry, capable of creating compelling arrangements for diverse occasions, from retail and events to bespoke designs tailored to client needs.
