COURSE CURRICULUM

The Honours Bachelor of Information Security program offers a comprehensive, four-year curriculum designed to prepare students for careers in cybersecurity, equipping them with both foundational knowledge and advanced practical skills. In the early semesters, students develop core competencies in operating systems, programming, security fundamentals, networking protocols, cryptography, and infrastructure administration, alongside critical thinking, communication, and presentation skills. As the program progresses, students explore enterprise infrastructure, endpoint security, vulnerability and threat analysis, network security, digital forensics, and advanced data analytics, gaining hands-on experience in securing information systems and analyzing security risks. The curriculum integrates both technical and professional development, including business and technical writing, research methodologies, ethics, and law, ensuring students are prepared to navigate complex cybersecurity environments. Later semesters focus on identity and access management, web application and system security, governance, risk, and compliance, as well as attack and defense strategies, culminating in applied security projects that demonstrate practical problem-solving skills. Students also participate in two work-integrated learning co-op terms, providing real-world experience in security operations and management. Professional options, such as CISCO network security, malware analysis, cloud infrastructure, and incident response, allow for further specialization. Graduates emerge with the expertise to design, implement, and manage secure information systems while addressing evolving technological threats.
