The Honours Bachelor of Design in Interactive Media program at Seneca offers a comprehensive curriculum that equips students with the technical, creative, and business skills required to excel in user experience (UX) and interactive media industries. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge in interactive technologies, audio and video production, persuasive communication, and design principles, while developing strong writing skills through courses such as Writing Strategies. The second year emphasizes web development, human-computer interaction, contemporary narrative structures, and communications methodology, complemented by liberal studies courses that enhance critical thinking and global awareness. In the third and fourth years, students advance into animation, 3D modeling, media for social change, integrated media channels, and desktop application development, further developing technical expertise alongside research, planning, and design thinking skills. The program also focuses on emerging technologies, mobile development, immersive environments, motion graphics, and social media strategy, preparing students for dynamic industry applications. A key component is the work-integrated learning term, which provides practical, hands-on experience in real-world settings. In the final year, students complete an intensive capstone project spanning concept development, prototyping, and execution, culminating in portfolio creation and career preparation.
