COURSE CURRICULUM

The Crime and Intelligence Analysis degree program spans eight semesters, blending foundational knowledge, applied analytical skills, and practical work-integrated learning to prepare students for careers in public safety, law enforcement, and intelligence. In the first year, students build a strong base with courses such as Introduction to Public Safety in Canada, Introduction to Law, Criminology, Social Problems in a Diverse Society, and Writing Strategies, emphasizing critical thinking, communication, and understanding of social and legal contexts. The second year introduces applied topics including Ethics and the Justice System, Criminal Law and Procedure, Investigation and Evidence, and Principles of Psychology, while developing presentation and interpersonal skills. By the third and fourth years, students engage in specialized courses like Contemporary Policing, Youth and Crime, Introduction to Crime and Intelligence Analysis, Criminology: Theories and Typologies, Restorative Justice, Organized Crime, Tactical Crime Analysis Techniques, Crime Mapping, and Statistics for Public Safety, advancing both analytical and research competencies. The fifth and sixth years further deepen expertise through Advanced Concepts of Crime Analysis, Strategic Intelligence Applications, Technology and Cyber Investigations, Social Media Analysis, and Behavioural Science and Forensic Psychology. Students also gain professional skills in communication, leadership, counter-terrorism, and anti-money laundering. The program integrates a co-op work term and culminates with a Research Project in Crime and Intelligence Analysis, ensuring graduates are prepared to apply analytical methods, investigative strategies, and technological tools effectively in complex, real-world public safety and intelligence environments.
