COURSE CURRICULUM

This comprehensive three-year program offers a structured progression through six semesters, beginning with foundational courses such as Fire Analytics I, Fire Protection Fundamentals, Fire Sprinkler Systems – Applied I, and Building Construction and the Effects of Fire. Semester 2 expands technical skills through CAD I, Electricity and Electronics for Fire Systems, Fire Sprinkler Systems – Applied II, Fire Analytics II, the Ontario Fire Code, and a General Education elective. In Semester 3, students advance into specialized topics including Alternative Fire Suppression Systems, CAD II, Fire Alarm Systems – Design, Fire Protection Water Supplies, and the Ontario Building Code, along with another General Education course. Semester 4 continues with Fire Dynamics I, Fire Sprinkler Systems – Design I, Hazardous Materials Operations, Ontario Building Code – Legal, Retrofit requirements, Technical Communications, Work Term Preparation, and a General Education elective. An optional Work-Integrated Learning term offers practical industry experience. Semesters 5 and 6 deepen expertise with advanced fire inspection, fire dynamics, sprinkler design, fire investigation, life safety education, and human behaviour during emergencies. Students may also choose specializations—Fire Protection Systems, Fire Service, or Insurance/Consulting—featuring advanced CAD, fire alarm troubleshooting, prevention officer preparation, industrial fire code applications, insurance fundamentals, project management, risk management, and building code studies.
