COURSE CURRICULUM

Seneca’s Fashion Arts program is a three-year advanced diploma designed to cultivate creativity and technical expertise in the fashion industry, offering a comprehensive curriculum that combines design, construction, pattern making, textiles, and computer-aided design. In the first semester, students develop foundational skills through courses in fashion design, sustainable fashion insights, pattern making, clothing construction, and an understanding of the evolution of fashion, alongside communication and circular production methods. In the second semester, students advance their technical abilities with intermediate pattern making, clothing construction, textiles, fashion design, and fashion CAD courses, complemented by general education studies. The third and fourth semesters focus on higher-level design and technical skills, including draping, sportswear pattern making, knitwear design, custom tailoring, and advanced fashion CAD, preparing students to conceptualize and produce complex garments. In the final two semesters, emphasis is placed on collection design research, development, and production, advanced pattern making, graduate-level CAD portfolio creation, and virtual fashion studio work, allowing students to produce cohesive, professional collections. Throughout the program, students gain practical experience with hands-on projects and design development, culminating in a portfolio that showcases their creativity, technical mastery, and professional readiness. By integrating creativity, sustainability, and technical skill, the program equips graduates for careers in fashion design, product development, technical design, and innovative apparel production.
