COURSE CURRICULUM

The Electronics Engineering Technology advanced diploma program at Seneca Polytechnic is a comprehensive three-year program designed to equip students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in electronics, embedded systems, communications, and automation technologies. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in electricity, programming using C, computer and lab instrumentation, mathematics, and fundamental electronics, alongside communication and interpersonal skills. The second year introduces digital electronics, PLCs, AC circuit principles, mechatronics, advanced CAD for electronics, control systems fundamentals, semiconductor devices, microcomputer repair, and hardware-software integration, while preparing students for work-integrated learning co-op terms. During the co-op placements, students gain real-world experience, applying classroom knowledge to industry-standard practices. In the final year, the curriculum advances to wireless and satellite communications, digital systems, ARM microcontrollers for real-time embedded applications, motors and transformers, transmission theory, robotics, totally integrated automation, and technical project design, with optional professional courses in business administration, accounting, manufacturing operations, and engineering ethics. Throughout the program, students learn to analyze and prepare electrical and electronics drawings, troubleshoot and maintain complex systems, design embedded systems and IoT devices, simulate circuits and mechanical assemblies, and apply project management, safety, and sustainability principles. Graduates are prepared for careers as skilled electronics engineering technologists in diverse high-tech industries.
