COURSE CURRICULUM

This Civil Engineering Technology program offers a structured six-semester pathway that blends theoretical learning with extensive hands-on experience across all key areas of civil engineering. In the first year, students build a strong foundation through courses such as CAD Fundamentals, Engineering Problems and Statics, Environmental Science, Mathematics, Materials, Surveying, and Interpersonal Skills for the engineering workplace. The second year advances into specialized technical subjects, including Geotechniques, Structural Design–Steel, Surveying II, Hydraulics and Hydrology, Highway Technology, Soil Mechanics and Foundations, and Technical Communications. Students may also begin work-integrated learning (co-op), gaining practical industry exposure. In the final year, the curriculum focuses on applied and design-oriented courses such as Building Code, Building Science, Municipal Technology, Planning, Traffic Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Advanced Math, and Engineering Technical Reports I and II. Learners can choose to specialize in Building or Municipal streams, with options like Building Information Modeling, Building Design, Structural Wood Design, Civil Design Applications, Municipal Environmental Design, and Water Management Control. Additional professional option courses—such as Engineering Ethics, Engineering and Public Policy, or Concrete Detailing—allow students to further tailor their expertise. Overall, the program prepares graduates with strong technical, analytical and practical skills for diverse careers in the civil engineering industry.
