COURSE CURRICULUM

The three-year Pharmaceutical and Chemical Technology advanced diploma program provides students with comprehensive, hands-on training in pharmaceutical analysis, chemical instrumentation, biochemistry, microbiology, pharmacology, and product formulation. In the first two semesters, students build a strong foundation in biology, chemistry, mathematics, technical communications, and laboratory skills, while also gaining experience with advanced computer applications and science survival techniques. Subsequent semesters focus on specialized pharmaceutical and chemical coursework, including organic chemistry, chemical instrumentation, pharmaceutical analysis, analytical chemistry techniques, biopharmaceuticals, pharmaceutical microbiology, product formulation, and manufacturing. Throughout the program, students are guided in effective technical writing, statistical analysis, and the proper use and maintenance of laboratory equipment. Work-integrated learning opportunities, including two cooperative work terms, provide real-world experience in chemical and pharmaceutical laboratories, allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge to industry practices. By completing this program, graduates develop the ability to perform precise drug assays, prepare and test organic and inorganic compounds, manufacture pharmaceutical products such as tablets, ointments, and creams, and conduct instrumental analyses while adhering to safety and quality standards. This program equips students with the technical expertise, analytical skills, and professional competencies required for successful careers in pharmaceutical manufacturing, quality control, research, and chemical laboratory operations, ensuring readiness to meet industry demands and regulatory standards.
