COURSE CURRICULUM

The Resource and Environmental Law diploma is a comprehensive two-year program that combines theoretical knowledge with extensive hands-on training to prepare students for careers in environmental protection and law enforcement. The program begins with foundational courses in Indigenous cultural awareness, environmental science and technology, forestry, wildlife ecology, mapping and GPS, resource legislation, and fitness, providing students with a broad understanding of natural resource management and environmental principles. In the second semester, students deepen their knowledge through courses on aquatic ecology, Indigenous resource rights, park enforcement, Canadian criminal justice, forest ecosystems, winter camps, survival skills, and firearm safety, while also gaining practical field experience. The third semester is dedicated to structured work experience, allowing students to apply their skills in real-world settings. The final semester focuses on advanced field techniques, geographic information systems, wildlife management, environmental sampling, investigative methods, evidence gathering, interviews and interrogations, and courtroom procedures, alongside fitness and professionalism training. Throughout the program, students develop skills in environmental investigations, legislation compliance, and resource management, while engaging in lab exercises, outdoor camps, simulated investigations, and ride-alongs with government trainers. Graduates emerge prepared to uphold environmental laws, manage natural resources responsibly, and communicate effectively in high-stakes enforcement situations, making this diploma a rigorous and immersive path to a rewarding career.
