COURSE CURRICULUM

The Innovative Manufacturing diploma program at Saskatchewan Polytechnic is structured over two years to provide comprehensive, hands-on training in modern manufacturing techniques and technologies. In Year 1, Semester 1, students build foundational skills through courses such as Autodesk Inventor (3D), Drafting Principles, Machine Shop Fundamentals, Precision Measurement and Tooling, Applied Mathematics, Technology Seminars, and Culture and Diversity, totaling 25 credits. Semester 2 develops technical proficiency with Mechanical Drafting, Drilling Machine Operations, Applied Mathematics 2, Applied Mechanics: Statics, Welding processes, Computer Applications, Professional Workplace Communication, and an Innovative Manufacturing Seminar. Semester 3 introduces CNC machining, including G-code, CNC Lathe, CNC Mill, Milling and Lathe Operations, Additive Manufacturing, and Manufacturing Materials, alongside a work experience component to apply learning in a professional setting. Year 2 advances students’ expertise with Computer Aided Manufacturing 1 and 2, Fluid Power, Manufacturing Processes and Systems, Supply Chain Management, Robotics, Applied Mechanics: Dynamics, Project Management, and Automation in welding. The final semester focuses on multi-axis machining, robotics applications, operations management, advanced welding, fabrication equipment, applied research, and a capstone project. Across all semesters, students gain practical skills in CAD/CAM, machining, robotics, welding, additive manufacturing, and project management, preparing them to meet the evolving demands of Saskatchewan’s growing manufacturing sector with technical competence, problem-solving abilities, and workplace readiness.
