COURSE CURRICULUM

The Early Childhood Education diploma spans two years and integrates classroom learning with extensive hands-on practicum experiences to prepare students for careers in early learning settings. In Year 1, Semester 1, students develop foundational skills through courses in dynamics of play, health, safety, and nutrition, observation and documentation, child growth and development, child guidance, and the first practicum, emphasizing practical application of theory. Semester 2 expands on these skills with courses in family and community relationships, curriculum design for early learning environments, applied curriculum design, language and literacy development, professionalism in early learning settings, and the second practicum, allowing students to gain further real-world experience. In Year 2, Semester 3, students focus on responsive care for infants and toddlers, inclusion in early learning environments, outdoor and nature play, advanced observation and documentation, child guidance, and the third practicum, emphasizing inclusive and developmentally appropriate practices. Semester 4 covers dynamics of play, emergent trends in curriculum design, equity in early learning, ethics, professional practice and leadership, Autism Spectrum Disorder in early learning, and the final practicum, providing intensive hands-on training in diverse early childhood settings. Throughout the program, students cultivate skills in curriculum planning, child observation, guidance, and inclusive practices, while developing professional competencies, preparing graduates to create engaging, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environments that foster the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth of all children.
