COURSE CURRICULUM

The Business Information Systems program at Saskatchewan Polytechnic is a comprehensive two-year, full-time diploma designed to equip students with both business knowledge and technical expertise. In the first year, students build foundational skills in business communications, professionalism, programming, web application development, business computing, and statistics, along with an introduction to networking, cloud services, and data management systems, ensuring a well-rounded understanding of both business and IT fundamentals. In the second year, the curriculum advances to machine learning, deep learning, cloud computing, project management, systems analysis, data structures, and enterprise application development, providing students with hands-on technical skills to address real-world business challenges. Capstone courses in initiating, planning, executing, and closing projects give students practical experience in applying knowledge to complex problems. The program also integrates organizational change, culture and diversity, and accounting for managers to develop professional and managerial competencies. Students enrolled in the Co-operative Education concentration gain valuable work experience through three paid cooperative work terms, allowing them to apply classroom learning, explore different industries, and develop essential workplace skills. Through this combination of technical training, business acumen, and experiential learning, graduates are prepared to design, implement, and manage technology solutions that support organizational strategy, making them highly competitive in today’s dynamic, technology-driven economy.
