COURSE CURRICULUM

The Fabricator-Welder program includes an extensive curriculum totaling 67 credits and provides comprehensive training in welding, fabrication, and shop operations. Students begin by learning essential trade foundations such as hand and power tool use, shop safety, trade mathematics, metallurgy, communication, and introductory computer skills. They study layout and template development, layout and fitting, metalworking equipment, rigging, crane operation, and shop management, building the technical knowledge required for fabrication work. Drafting and design skills are developed through courses in hand drafting, drawing interpretation, welding symbols, and computer-aided design. The program delivers in-depth welding training through theory and hands-on shop courses in shielded metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, wire feed welding processes, and oxy-fuel and thermal cutting, supported by Canadian Welding Bureau welder qualification preparation. Students enhance their practical abilities through multiple fabrication projects, including fab, form and fit projects, tank and vessel projects, and a final fabrication build that simulates real industry tasks. Additional training in Indigenous Studies and job-related skills offers broader workplace readiness. The program concludes with a work experience placement, giving students the opportunity to apply their skills in a real-world setting and prepare for employment in welding and fabrication trades.
