COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Arts in Environment and Management program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge to address complex environmental and sustainability challenges. The program begins with foundational courses such as Introduction to Academic Integrity and MEM Orientation, followed by core courses including Reconciliation and Regenerative Innovation, World Views in Sustainable Development, and Theories and Stories in Sustainable Development, which provide critical perspectives on socio-ecological systems and sustainable development. Students gain practical and analytical skills through courses in Economics for Decision Making, Environmental Accounting and Reporting, Research and Analysis, and Sustainability Science and Management. Communication, ethics, and governance are emphasized in courses such as Foundations for Environmental Communication, Biosphere and Sustainability: Socio-Ecological Justice, Worldviews, Ethics, and the Environment, Legal Aspects of Environmental Management, Governance Innovations for Sustainability, and Climate Policy and Governance. Applied learning is further reinforced through Learning in a Living Lab, Systems Methods for Environmental Management, Leadership and Sustainable Development, and Environmental Management Tools. The program culminates with substantial research and capstone projects, including the Major Research Project in Environment and Management and the Master of Arts Thesis, allowing students to integrate theoretical knowledge with real-world applications, develop critical thinking, and prepare to lead sustainability initiatives across diverse sectors.
