COURSE CURRICULUM

The two-year Global Studies program provides a comprehensive exploration of local, national, and international issues while equipping students with the skills to drive meaningful change. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge through courses such as Global Studies, Indigenous Studies, Social, Economic and Environmental Sustainability, and Writing and Critical Thinking, alongside Canadian Studies, Communication, Media and Culture Foundations, Applied Social Science Research Methods for Changemaking, and Human Rights and Justice. Electives allow for further customization, including Social Entrepreneurship, Environmental Science, Human Geography, or Introduction to Marketing. The second year deepens learning through courses such as Community Engagement and Service Learning, Global Issues through Literature and Film, Introduction to Political Science, Writing and Literature for Inquiry and Action, Humanitarianism and Justice, Media and Society, Planetary Health Leadership, and Social Science Research for Community Change. Students also select electives in both terms, with options including Business and Humanity, Business Law and Ethics, Digital Communication for Social Impact, Ecological Economics, Introduction to Business Model Innovation, Introduction to Finance, Introduction to Indigenous Business in Canada, Sales Fundamentals in Tourism and Hospitality, and Systems Thinking. Delivered primarily on campus, the program emphasizes experiential learning, applied research, and project-based collaboration, fostering critical thinking, communication, leadership, and analytical skills to prepare graduates for careers in social innovation, policy, advocacy, community development, and global citizenship initiatives.
