COURSE CURRICULUM

The Undergraduate Diploma in Business at Royal Roads University spans two years and is designed to equip students with a strong foundation in business while emphasizing ethics, sustainability, and social impact. In the first year, students take core courses such as Introduction to Business Administration, Principles of Accounting, Principles of Economics, Writing and Critical Thinking, Business and the Environment, Fundamentals of Human Resource Management, Introduction to Marketing, Social Entrepreneurship, and Fundamentals of Challenge Navigation for Business and Sustainability. In addition, students choose an elective in the second term, which may include Canadian Studies, Communication, Media and Culture Foundations, History of Science and Environmental Thought, Human Geography, or Human Rights and Justice. The second year continues to build leadership and business expertise through courses such as Business and Humanity, Business Law and Ethics, Introduction to Finance, Introduction to Indigenous Business in Canada, Leading for Change, Challenge-Based Course: Advanced, Digital Communication for Social Impact, Introduction to Business Model Innovation, and Sales Fundamentals in Tourism and Hospitality. Students also select a second-year elective from options such as Ecological Economics, Humanitarianism and Justice, Media and Society, Planetary Health Leadership, or Systems Thinking. The program combines classroom learning, applied projects, and experiential opportunities to prepare students to lead with purpose, navigate complex challenges, and make a positive impact in organizations and communities while developing critical skills in problem-solving, collaboration, and ethical decision-making.
