COURSE CURRICULUM

The Engineering and Construction Technologies program provides a comprehensive foundation for internationally educated professionals to apply their skills in the Canadian architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry. In Year 1, Term 1, students develop essential knowledge in Building Codes and Standards, Site Investigation and Project Documentation while exploring emerging technologies. Communication for the Workplace and Advising and Professional Practice further strengthen professional and workplace skills, preparing learners to navigate Canadian industry expectations. Term 2 focuses on Capstone 1, a hands-on project that integrates technical and professional competencies, alongside Project Administration and Inclusive Workplace Environments, which emphasize effective management and equity in the workplace. Elective courses such as Applied Structural Technology and Applied Infrastructure Technology allow students to tailor their learning to specific technical interests. Year 2, Term 3, offers a nine-credit Co-Operative Education placement, providing practical, paid experience in the field, fostering professional networking and applying learned concepts in real-world AEC projects. Term 4 concludes with Capstone 2, a culminating project that consolidates technical knowledge and professional skills, and Ethics and Canadian Contract Law, which prepares students to navigate legal and ethical responsibilities in the Canadian context. Together, these courses combine technical expertise, industry standards, professional development and applied experience to equip graduates for successful careers in the Canadian AEC sector.
