COURSE CURRICULUM

The IT Operations diploma program is a comprehensive two-year course designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to support and manage essential IT services that keep businesses running smoothly. In Year 1, Term 1, students focus on foundational skills with courses such as Communication Strategies, IT Service Management, IT Architecture and Design, IT Foundations, and Customer Experience, totaling 27 credit hours. These courses provide a strong base in IT concepts, customer service, and system design. Term 2 builds on this foundation with Communication for the Workplace, IT Operations Foundations, IT Service Desk and Customer Support, People, Process and Technology, and Security Foundations, also totaling 27 credit hours. This term emphasizes operational support, security basics, and frameworks essential for managing IT services effectively. In Year 2, Term 3, students advance their expertise through courses like Communication for Systems and Innovative Thinking, Cloud Infrastructure, IT Service Delivery, and Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery, totaling 27 credit hours. These courses prepare students to handle cloud technologies, maintain service reliability, and manage disaster recovery plans. Elective options in data science and databases allow for further specialization. In the final term, Term 4, students gain practical experience through a co-op placement and an industry project, each worth 6 credit hours, providing real-world application of their skills. Throughout the program, students develop strong communication skills, technical proficiency, and customer service abilities, enabling them to deliver efficient, secure, and reliable IT services. Graduates are prepared to contribute to IT operations teams by supporting infrastructure, managing processes, mitigating security risks, and ensuring business continuity, making them valuable assets in today’s technology-driven organizations.
