COURSE CURRICULUM

The Business Administration – Tourism Management program at RRC Polytech is a two-year specialization designed to prepare students for diverse careers in Manitoba’s tourism industry. In the first year, students complete foundational business courses in accounting, marketing, human resources, business mathematics, communication, research methods, organizational behaviour, and economics, while also exploring tourism-specific courses such as Introduction to Tourism and Event Planning and Sponsorship. Electives allow students to broaden their knowledge in areas like supply chain management, personal finance, recruitment, conflict resolution, and project management. In the second year, students advance to specialized tourism and management courses, including Community Tourism Planning, Hospitality Sales and Event Marketing, Destination Marketing, and Tourism Business Development, alongside core business courses in ethics, diversity, sustainability, business strategy, and law. Additional electives provide opportunities to study management information systems, sustainable business, HR communications, insurance, financial services, and leadership development. The curriculum emphasizes practical, applied learning, preparing students to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and leadership skills relevant to the fast-paced tourism sector. Graduates are equipped to excel in areas such as event planning, cultural tourism, hospitality management, community development, and tourism business operations, ready to meet the needs of a dynamic industry while contributing to economic growth and vibrant community experiences.
