COURSE CURRICULUM

The Structural Engineering Technology program builds on the foundational first year of Civil Engineering Technology and advances your skills through specialized, application-focused coursework. In Term 4, you develop core technical competencies by studying Project Administration, Calculus and Statistics, Geotechnical Fundamentals, Reinforced Concrete Design 1, Structural Analysis 1, Timber Design and Structural Detailing Practices, gaining a deep understanding of materials, structural behaviour and design principles. Term 5 features a paid co-op work placement, allowing you to apply your skills in real industry settings, gain hands-on experience and build valuable professional connections. In Term 6, you continue to strengthen your expertise through advanced courses such as Steel Design, Foundation Design, Reinforced Concrete Design 2 and Structural Analysis 2. You will also complete an Applied Research Project, integrating theoretical knowledge with problem-solving and innovation. Additional courses in Engineering Economics, Supervisory Management and Materials Testing ensure you develop practical skills in project planning, leadership and quality control. Together, these courses prepare you to excel in consulting, construction, fabrication, drafting and design roles within the structural engineering field, equipped with both technical proficiency and industry experience.
