COURSE CURRICULUM

The Geomatics Technology program offers a comprehensive set of courses designed to build advanced technical skills in surveying, mapping and spatial data analysis, beginning in Year 2 with a strong focus on applied learning and industry relevance. In Term 4, students gain essential knowledge through courses such as Project Administration, Calculus & Statistics, Theory & Use, Fundamentals of GIS, Survey Computations, Roadway Design 1 and Geomatics Computer Applications, developing their capabilities in data processing, mapping technologies, infrastructure design and geomatics software. Term 5 features a paid co-op work placement, allowing students to apply classroom learning in real-world environments, build professional experience and strengthen employability. In Year 3, Term 6 provides deeper specialization through advanced courses including Applied Technical Project, Legal Surveys, Remote Sensing & Digital Photo, Advanced Survey Computations, Control Surveys and Roadway Design 2, ensuring students gain expertise in boundary law, photogrammetry, high-level calculations and large-scale project design. The term also includes Engineering Economics and Supervisory Management, helping students develop decision-making and leadership skills. Together, these courses create a well-rounded, industry-ready geomatics professional capable of supporting engineers, land surveyors and other specialists across the construction, land development and environmental sectors.
