COURSE CURRICULUM

The Architectural/Engineering Technology program at RRC Polytech is structured to provide a comprehensive education over three years, combining theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and hands-on work experience. In the first year, students focus on foundational courses such as Technical Drawing Fundamentals, Algebra and Trigonometry, Statics and Strength of Materials, Surveying, Chemistry, Professional Ethics, and Communication for the Workplace, along with safety training. The second term builds on these skills with further algebra, trigonometry, surveying, and applied technical graphics, complemented by communication strategies, while a co-op work placement in the third term offers practical industry experience. In the second year, students advance into Project Administration, Calculus and Statistics, Structural Design, Architectural Technology, Advanced CAD, AEC Industry practices, and Building Science, with a second co-op placement providing continued applied learning. The final year emphasizes specialization and integration through courses such as Applied Research Project, Structural Design 2, Architectural Technology 2, Environmental Systems, Engineering Economics, Supervisory Management, Thermal and Energy Efficient Systems, and Materials Testing. This curriculum ensures that graduates develop strong technical, analytical, and managerial skills, preparing them for careers in architectural engineering, construction project management, CAD drafting, site supervision, building sciences, and environmental systems. Graduates may also be eligible for direct admission into the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering program at the University of Manitoba, enabling further academic and professional growth.
