COURSE CURRICULUM

The Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) program provides a comprehensive education designed to prepare students for careers as engineering technologists in a rapidly evolving electrical industry. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in DC and AC circuits, digital logic, programming, mathematics, physics, technical communications, computer systems, drafting, and workshop practices, alongside essential safety training. Year one also includes hands-on lab work to develop practical skills and problem-solving abilities. In the second year, the program advances to electric circuits, power electronics, digital communications, electrical machines, PLCs, electrical measurements, applied sciences, and electrical code and applied wiring, with opportunities to explore electives and participate in co-op work placements, providing real-world experience and professional connections. The final year focuses on applied learning through power systems, advanced power electronics, electrical design practices, project management, and technical thesis work, culminating in a final project that integrates theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Students also study professional ethics, quality assurance, and engineering technology reporting, ensuring well-rounded preparation for industry expectations. Through a combination of classroom instruction, hands-on labs, co-op placements, and applied projects, graduates of the EET program gain the technical expertise, professional experience, and industry-ready skills necessary to succeed in diverse roles such as design, installation, maintenance, production, technical support, and sales of electrical systems, and are well-positioned for continuous career growth in a global, technology-driven environment.
