COURSE CURRICULUM

The Construction Management program spans two years, combining technical, managerial and practical learning to prepare students for careers in the construction industry. In Year 1, Term 1, foundational courses such as Algebra & Trigonometry, Statics, Construction Graphics, Computer and Communication Fundamentals, Surveying 1, and Construction Safety, along with WHMIS and General Safety Training, provide essential knowledge in mathematics, design, digital tools and workplace safety. Term 2 builds on these skills with Construction Industry Overview, Technical Communications, Materials and Methods 1, Probability & Statistics, Strength of Materials, and Surveying 2, equipping students with industry knowledge, analytical abilities and practical surveying experience. Term 3 offers a nine-credit Co-op Work Placement, giving hands-on experience in professional construction environments. In Year 2, Term 4, students advance their learning through Report Writing, Materials and Methods 2, Environmental Management, Infrastructure Design 1, Structural Analysis 1, and Project Management 1, while electives such as Infrastructure/Heavy Construction and Structural Design allow further specialization. Term 5 continues with Values & Ethics in Technology, Structural Design 1, Building Systems and Codes, Infrastructure Design 2, Materials Science & Testing, and Structural Analysis 2, reinforcing technical, regulatory and ethical competencies. The program concludes in Term 6 with a second nine-credit Co-op Work Placement, providing real-world application of skills, professional networking, and practical experience. This integrated approach ensures graduates are well-prepared to manage construction projects and advance in the industry.
