COURSE CURRICULUM

The Computer Aided Drafting program offers a comprehensive and practical curriculum designed to develop technical drawing and design skills for the manufacturing and engineering industries. In the first term, students take foundational courses such as Communication Strategies, Mathematics for Manufacturing, and Introduction to Manufacturing, which provide essential skills for understanding technical documentation and workplace communication. Core drafting courses include Engineering Drawing 1, Introduction to 2D CAD, and Introduction to 3D CAD, where students begin learning industry-standard software and practices. They also study Metallurgy and Material Science, gaining insight into the properties and behaviors of materials used in mechanical design. In the second term, students build on their foundational knowledge through advanced drafting courses such as CAD with Inventor, CAD with SolidEdge, and Engineering Drawing 2. Quality Inspection with GD\&T and CMM ensures students understand dimensional accuracy and inspection processes, while the Capstone Projects course allows them to apply their skills in a project-based setting. Additional instruction in Additive Manufacturing and Applied Science in Physics introduces emerging technologies and essential physics principles relevant to design work. Electives such as Lean Manufacturing, Robotics and Automation, and Project Management and Engineering Economics give students flexibility to tailor their studies to industry demands. In the third term, students may take further specialized electives including CAD/CAM Fundamentals, Applied Mechanics, and Basics of Manufacturing, and all students complete a Work Experience course, providing valuable hands-on industry exposure. This well-rounded program prepares graduates to work as CAD technicians or design assistants, with practical and theoretical skills that align with current industry standards.
