COURSE CURRICULUM

The Dental Assisting program provides a thorough blend of theoretical knowledge and practical experience to prepare students for clinical and administrative roles in dental practices. In the first term, students are introduced to foundational dental concepts and skills across a wide range of focused courses. Topics include Infection Prevention in Dentistry, Dental Communications, and Documentation of Patient Records, which emphasize patient safety, professional interaction, and accurate record keeping. Students also learn technical skills in courses like Dental Radiology Basics and Application, Dental Impressions, Moisture Control, Restorative 1, Dental Materials 1, and Dental Anatomy, ensuring they understand the tools and procedures involved in clinical practice. Further coursework such as Dental Sciences, Preventive Dentistry, Patient Care, and Nutrition supports a comprehensive understanding of both oral and general health, creating a solid base for clinical competency. In the second term, students transition into applied learning through Clinical and Dental Assisting Practicum courses, gaining direct patient-care experience. Restorative 2 and Dental Materials 2 build upon skills learned earlier, while Dental Specialties exposes students to various branches of dentistry. Practice Management introduces essential administrative tasks, helping students become well-rounded dental professionals capable of contributing in all aspects of a dental office. The program’s integration of hands-on practice—including rotations and a practicum—ensures graduates leave with the confidence and ability to assist effectively in real-world dental environments, fully prepared for employment as competent dental assistants.
