COURSE CURRICULUM

The program offers a comprehensive education in vehicle autobody repair and refinishing through a series of courses spanning three terms. In the first term, students gain foundational knowledge in vehicle construction and safety features (3 credit hours), fundamentals of metal work (6 credit hours), and metal work applications (6 credit hours). Alongside these technical courses, students develop essential communication skills (3 credit hours), mathematical abilities (3 credit hours), and safety awareness through WHMIS training and shop safety courses (totaling 6 credit hours), complemented by general safety training. MIG welding is introduced as a key skill (3 credit hours). The second term builds on this foundation with specialized courses in plastic, composite, and glass repair (3 credit hours), surface preparation and refinishing applications (6 credit hours), and project repair and refinishing (6 credit hours). Additional coursework includes science (3 credit hours) and electrical foundations (3 credit hours), essential for understanding vehicle systems. Elective options provide further specialization opportunities, such as service advising, advanced electrical systems, refinishing techniques, and frames and structural repair. The third term includes an accreditation course (AC-043 Level 1) and a 4-credit hour field experience placement, offering practical, hands-on learning in real-world settings to prepare students for employment. Overall, the program equips students with the skills necessary to safely and effectively repair and refinish damaged vehicles, blending theory, technical training, and workplace experience to meet industry standards.
