COURSE CURRICULUM

The Cabinetry and Woodworking – Certificate program offers a comprehensive, hands-on curriculum designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in the woodworking and cabinetmaking industry. In Term 1, students begin by developing essential skills in communication (COMM-1173), trade-specific mathematics (MATH-1197), and safety practices, including WHMIS (SAFE-1028), general safety training (SEMR-9209), and trade safety and orientation (SAFE-1036). Core technical courses such as Woodworking and Hand Tools (WOOD-1029), Woodworking and Power Equipment (WOOD-2008), and Woodworking Applications 1 (WOOD-3003) build foundational competence in tool use, materials handling, and basic project fabrication. In Term 2, the focus shifts to group work and industry readiness, beginning with advanced communication for the workplace (COMM-2172) and continuing with Project Development (PROJ-1013), where students apply design and planning skills. Field Experience (FIEL-4002) offers a real-world opportunity to work within the industry, while courses such as Woodworking and CNC Technologies (WOOD-1030), Woodworking Trends (WOOD-1033), and Wood Industrial Machinery (WOOD-4002) introduce students to modern equipment, automated technologies, and emerging practices. In the final term, students work collaboratively on large-scale projects that simulate real industry work. They gain expertise in Wood Finishing (WOOD-1034), Shipping and Installation (WOOD-1036), and advanced project work in Woodworking Applications 2 (WOOD-5003). The program’s structure ensures graduates leave with technical skills, practical experience, and industry readiness.
