COURSE CURRICULUM

The Automotive Service Technician program provides comprehensive training over three terms, equipping students with the essential skills and knowledge needed for a career in automotive repair and maintenance. In the first term, students focus on Suspension and Steering, gaining a deep understanding of vehicle dynamics and control systems. Communication Strategies enhance their ability to interact effectively in the workplace, while Math and Science courses build foundational analytical skills. Safety training, including WHMIS, Shop Safety, and General Safety, ensures students work confidently and responsibly in shop environments. Electrical Foundations and Engine Fundamentals introduce critical concepts in automotive electrical systems and internal combustion engines, preparing students for hands-on repair work. The second term covers Vehicle Maintenance and Brakes, where students learn to inspect, diagnose, and repair key automotive systems. Tires and Drivelines further expand their expertise in drivetrain components. Elective courses offer opportunities to specialize, including Service Advisor training, Advanced Drivelines, Engine Repair, and Electrical systems, as well as Diesel Engine Overhaul, Engine Management, Powersports Performance and Tuning, and Lawn and Garden equipment maintenance, allowing students to tailor their learning to specific interests or industry demands. The final term includes a field experience placement that provides valuable real-world practice under professional supervision, along with Accreditation Level 1 certification preparation, which supports industry recognition of their skills. This blend of theoretical knowledge, practical skills, safety awareness, and hands-on experience ensures graduates are well-prepared to enter the automotive service industry as competent and confident technicians, ready to meet the demands of modern vehicle technology and maintenance.
