COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science (MSc) in Rehabilitation Science is typically a full-time, two-year program structured within Program Pattern I of the School of Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs. The program is designed to provide comprehensive coursework encompassing a general theoretical review of rehabilitation science, development of research skills, and study in focused areas within the field. Students are required to complete two core courses, RHBS 833 and RHBS 804, which provide foundational knowledge in rehabilitation science. In addition, students must complete a minimum of 6.0 course credit units of electives, which can be achieved through a combination of 1.5- and 3.0-credit courses, selected from offerings within the program or from other departments, with guidance from the student’s supervisor to align with research interests. Central to the program is the MSc thesis (RHBS 899), through which students conduct independent research, applying the theoretical and methodological knowledge gained. Students also participate in the obligatory RHBS 803 Seminar Program, which includes attendance at all seminars, thesis proposal presentations, and open defenses within the School of Rehabilitation Therapy, fostering scholarly discussion and professional development. This integrated approach ensures that graduates acquire both advanced theoretical understanding and practical research skills, preparing them for leadership roles in rehabilitation research, clinical practice, and policy development.
