COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science (MSc) in Epidemiology at Queen’s University is a full-time, 24-month, in-person program designed to provide students with a strong methodological foundation for conducting research in human populations across diverse health and related areas. The program covers a broad range of content areas and methodologies, equipping students with the skills to design studies, analyze and interpret health data, and apply epidemiological and analytic methods in research. Through a combination of coursework and independent research, students learn to communicate scientific findings effectively, describe trends and patterns in disease incidence and prevalence, and critically evaluate scientific literature in epidemiology. The program also trains students to conduct original research, including designing a study, collecting and analyzing data, and writing and defending a thesis. While the program is primarily full-time, part-time study may be possible for working professionals, offering flexibility to continue employment while pursuing the degree. Students progress through a structured sequence of courses and research milestones, gaining both theoretical knowledge and practical experience in epidemiologic methods, biostatistics, and health research. This comprehensive training prepares graduates to contribute to public health, healthcare research, policy development, and academic scholarship, providing the expertise required for careers in research, government, healthcare organizations, and beyond.
