COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first year of the MSc program, all students complete Design of Experiments (PSYC 801) in the fall and Introduction to Multivariate Statistics (PSYC 802) in the winter, establishing a strong methodological foundation. Throughout both the first and second years, students take two seminar courses selected from Cross-Cultural Psychology (PSYC 942), Relationships (PSYC 943), Attitudes and Attitude Change (PSYC 944), Social Cognition (PSYC 947), The Self (PSYC 948), and Judgment and Decision-Making (PSYC 949). Typically, two of these seminars are offered each year, with scheduling varying by term and each course appearing at least once every three to four years. Occasionally, additional electives may count toward the seminar requirement, including Special Topics in Social Psychology I (PSYC 945), Special Topics in Social Psychology II (PSYC 946), Personality Theory (PSYC 979), Special Topics in Personality I (PSYC 980), Personality Assessment (PSYC 981), and Special Topics in Personality II (PSYC 982). In the second year, students also take either Structural Equation Modeling (PSYC 940) or Research Methods (PSYC 941), with the department offering these courses in alternating years. Together, this curriculum provides rigorous training in quantitative methods and advanced topics in social and personality psychology.
