COURSE CURRICULUM

MSc students who began the program before Fall 2024 normally take two courses chosen from PSYC 841, PSYC 851, and PSYC 852, along with one Developmental Theory course (PSYC 842 or PSYC 843), one Cognitive Development course (PSYC 853, PSYC 854, or PSYC 855), and one Social or Atypical Development course (PSYC 856, PSYC 857, or PSYC 859). These selections are made in consultation with the student’s supervisor and program chair to ensure the coursework supports each student’s research focus and training goals. For students entering the program from Fall 2024 onward, the curriculum changes slightly: students take PSYC 841 twice, along with one Developmental Theory course, one Cognitive Development course, and one Social or Atypical Development course from the same lists used for earlier cohorts. PSYC 841 is a full-year, 3-credit course offered across Fall and Winter, and students must enroll in it during both MSc1 and MSc2. This updated structure provides a strong, consistent foundation in developmental psychology while maintaining flexibility for students to tailor their studies through elective courses that reflect their interests within cognitive, social, and atypical development.
