COURSE CURRICULUM

The M.Sc. in Biomedical and Molecular Sciences requires the completion of a minimum of 12 graduate-level credit units. All incoming students must take two mandatory core courses, BMED 860 and BMED 897, each worth three credit units, during their first year, providing foundational skills in biomedical research and professional development. Additional required credit units are determined by the student’s chosen Field Specialization, and students may count no more than one 3-credit dual-numbered undergraduate course toward their total graduate credits. In the Reproduction and Developmental Sciences field, students complete the remaining six credit units by selecting BMED graduate courses focused on reproductive biology, developmental processes, or related areas, ensuring alignment with their specific research interests. Where appropriate, students may also choose other BMED graduate courses or approved graduate-level courses from other departments, subject to approval by the Graduate Coordinator and their supervisor. This structure allows students to tailor their coursework to gain in-depth knowledge in areas such as fertilization, embryo implantation, perinatal health, pregnancy complications, sexual dysfunction, and maternal-fetal interactions, while integrating clinical, animal, and in vitro perspectives. By combining core foundational courses with specialized and flexible coursework, the program provides rigorous training that prepares graduates for advanced research, professional development, and careers in academia, clinical research, or the biomedical and developmental sciences sectors.
