COURSE CURRICULUM

The M.Sc. in Biomedical and Molecular Sciences requires a minimum of 12 graduate-level credit units for completion. All students must take two mandatory 3-credit core courses in their first year, BMED 860 and BMED 897, which provide foundational training in biomedical research and professional development. Additional credit requirements depend on the student’s chosen Field Specialization, and students may include a maximum of one 3-credit dual-numbered undergraduate course toward their total graduate credits. In the Experimental Medicine field, M.Sc. students complete the remaining six credit units of coursework in consultation with their supervisor, allowing for a tailored program that aligns with individual research interests and career goals. While students are encouraged to select BMED graduate courses relevant to Experimental Medicine, they may also take graduate-level courses offered by other departments, provided these are approved by both the Graduate Coordinator and the supervisor. This flexibility ensures that students can acquire the specific knowledge and skills necessary for their research focus, whether it involves molecular, cellular, or systems-based approaches to understanding normal and diseased physiological processes.
