COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Engineering program requires students to complete a total of eight term-length courses, with at least four courses taken from the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering and designated as primary on the registration form. Students may include up to two term-length 400 series undergraduate courses, double-numbered 400/800 courses, or a combination of both, provided these courses are approved by the student’s supervisor or graduate coordinator and the student has not already received credit for similar courses in their Bachelor’s program. If students choose to take either two undergraduate 400-level courses, one undergraduate 400-level and one double-numbered 400/800 course, or two double-numbered 400/800 graduate courses, the remaining courses in the program must be strictly graduate-level courses and cannot be combined undergraduate/graduate courses, ensuring the academic rigor expected at the graduate level. This structure allows students flexibility in tailoring their coursework to their specific interests and career goals while maintaining a strong foundation in advanced mechanical and materials engineering concepts. The program is designed to provide a balance between foundational engineering principles and specialized technical expertise, giving students the ability to deepen their knowledge in areas relevant to their professional aspirations while meeting the program’s formal requirements for graduate-level study.
