COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Queen’s University is a non-thesis, coursework-based graduate program designed to provide advanced technical and professional skills in the field. The program requires completion of eight term-length courses, of which at least four must be taken from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and entered as primary on the registration form. Up to two term-length 400-series undergraduate courses or double-numbered 400/800 graduate courses may be counted toward the degree, provided they are approved by the student’s supervisor or graduate coordinator and the student has not already received credit for similar courses in their Bachelor’s program. If two 400-level undergraduate courses, one 400-level undergraduate plus one double-numbered 400/800 graduate course, or two double-numbered 400/800 courses are taken, the remaining courses must be graduate-level courses and cannot include combined undergraduate/graduate courses. Of the eight courses, four must be graduate courses offered by the Department, and two of these may be replaced by ELEC 898, the M.Eng. Project. If the project course is not selected, the student must take at least one course that includes a project component, as identified by the Department. All students are required to take the non-credit seminar course ELEC 891, and all course selections must be approved by the Department to ensure program requirements and learning outcomes are met.
