COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Engineering program in Chemical Engineering requires students to complete the equivalent of eight term-length courses, which can include a combination of term-length and modular courses. At least four of these courses must be taken from the Department of Chemical Engineering and listed as primary on the registration form. Students may take a maximum of two term-length 400-level undergraduate courses, double-numbered 400/800-level courses, or a combination thereof, provided they receive approval from their supervisor or graduate coordinator and have not already received credit for similar courses in their undergraduate program. If a student chooses to take two 400-level undergraduate courses, one undergraduate and one double-numbered course, or two double-numbered graduate courses, the remaining courses must be graduate-level and cannot include additional double-numbered courses. All programs of study must be approved by the department to ensure academic rigor and program consistency. Additionally, all students are required to take CHEM 801, a non-credit course in laboratory safety, at the first opportunity after initial registration. The M.Eng. program emphasizes research-focused training, and as such, admitted students are expected to complete the program without financial support from the University or Department. This structure ensures that students gain both technical expertise and professional competence while maintaining high academic standards.
