COURSE CURRICULUM

The Collaborative Masters Program in Applied Sustainability provides a structured and flexible curriculum designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to address complex sustainability challenges. Core components include the foundational course on topics in applied sustainability and a seminar series that emphasizes practical applications and interdisciplinary learning. Students are required to complete a series of electives, including two from List A (excluding CMAS 898), one from List B, and four additional electives drawn from Lists A, B, or C, with a maximum of two from List C, or from any eligible courses in the graduate calendar or relevant courses offered with appropriate permissions. This structure allows students to tailor their learning to specific interests, combining technical, environmental, and policy perspectives. The seminar component, graded on a pass/fail basis, complements the elective coursework by fostering critical thinking, research discussion, and applied problem-solving in sustainability contexts. By integrating technical, managerial, and policy-oriented studies, the program ensures that graduates gain both the practical skills and theoretical understanding required to implement sustainable solutions across a variety of sectors. Students emerge with a comprehensive understanding of sustainability challenges, prepared to contribute to environmentally responsible practices, resource management, energy systems, and policy-informed decision-making on a local, national, and global scale.
