COURSE CURRICULUM

The Aging and Health program at Queen’s University provides a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to address the multifaceted aspects of aging and health. Core courses, including Evaluating Aging-Related Programs and Services (AGHE 800), Ethics and Bioethics of Aging (AGHE 802), and Issues in Aging and Health (AGHE 811), establish a strong foundation in understanding the principles, ethical considerations, and contemporary challenges related to aging populations. Students complement this core learning with a selection of four electives, allowing them to explore specialized topics such as the Demography and Geography of Aging (AGHE 803), Epidemiology of Aging (AGHE 810), Mobility and Functioning Among Older Adults (AGHE 814), Chronic Conditions and Self-Management (AGHE 815), Aging and Mental Health (AGHE 821), and Planning for Age-Friendly Communities (AGHE 819), among others, fostering a tailored, interdisciplinary understanding of aging. The program also emphasizes practical application and research through the Master’s Project (AGHE 898), enabling students to synthesize their learning and contribute original insights to the field. By integrating theoretical knowledge, applied research, and policy analysis, the Aging and Health program prepares graduates for careers in healthcare, social services, community planning, and policy development, while equipping them with the expertise to improve the quality of life and promote healthy aging in diverse populations.
