COURSE CURRICULUM

The Masters of Anatomical Sciences program is designed around three foundational pillars of post-secondary education: content, pedagogical, and inquiry competence. Students gain comprehensive knowledge through in-depth courses across the four primary anatomical disciplines, complemented by specialized courses in teaching and learning in higher education, including one 6.0 unit course and six 3.0 unit advanced courses. Those lacking an undergraduate background in histology are required to complete an additional 3.0 unit course to ensure a solid foundation. The program includes a practicum that provides hands-on experience in human gross anatomy dissection, specimen preparation techniques, histology methods, electronic media, digital imaging technology for anatomical sciences, and teaching in both classroom and laboratory settings at undergraduate and graduate levels. Alongside practical training, students undertake an independent research study, with project topics drawn from Anatomy and Cell Biology, pedagogy in anatomical sciences, or instructional technology, allowing for the development of analytical, investigative, and scholarly skills. This integration of rigorous coursework, experiential learning, and independent research ensures that graduates are well-prepared for careers in academic teaching, research, clinical education, and other professional roles requiring advanced anatomical knowledge and teaching proficiency. By combining deep content mastery with pedagogical expertise and inquiry-based skills, the program equips students to contribute effectively to both scientific and educational communities.
