COURSE CURRICULUM

M.A.Sc. program in Mechanical and Materials Engineering include the successful completion of four term-length graduate courses or their equivalent, in addition to a thesis that must be satisfactorily completed and successfully defended. This research-based degree is designed to provide students with the opportunity to develop specialized knowledge and advanced skills in their chosen area of study while fostering the ability to conduct independent, high-quality research. As part of the program’s flexibility, one term-length senior undergraduate course, specifically a 400-series course, or one combined undergraduate/graduate course, also known as a double-numbered 400/800 course, may be accepted as equivalent to a graduate-level course. This allowance provides students with the ability to tailor their coursework to their research focus or to complement their graduate-level training with additional foundational knowledge from a related discipline, subject to approval. The M.A.Sc. program emphasizes both rigorous academic coursework and intensive research, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared to contribute to advanced research projects, interdisciplinary collaborations, and professional practice in mechanical and materials engineering.
