COURSE CURRICULUM

The Kinesiology program at Queen’s University, offered as a standalone Plan or in combination with a Minor and sufficient electives, leads to a Bachelor of Science (Honours) Degree and provides a comprehensive study of human movement, health, and physical activity. The curriculum integrates core courses in social determinants of health, human physiology, biomechanics, and socio-cultural dimensions of sport, alongside foundational psychology and statistics. Students build advanced knowledge through courses in exercise physiology, physical activity and fitness, motor learning, sport psychology, and functional human anatomy, complemented by research methods and professional issues in allied health. The program offers flexibility through options that allow students to select courses at the 200-, 300-, and 400-levels in Kinesiology, Health Studies, and other science disciplines, ensuring exposure to both theoretical and applied dimensions of human performance and health. Interdisciplinary requirements in the sciences outside Kinesiology and Health Studies further develop analytical and critical thinking skills, while elective courses allow for exploration of individual interests. Graduates gain practical and research expertise, preparing them for professional careers in athletic therapy, rehabilitation, coaching, health promotion, and exercise science, as well as for advanced studies in health, kinesiology, and related sciences. The program emphasizes both the scientific and socio-cultural understanding of human movement to produce well-rounded, skilled professionals.
