COURSE CURRICULUM

The Environmental Toxicology Bachelor of Science (Honours) program is a comprehensive, interdisciplinary degree designed to provide students with a strong foundation in biological, chemical, and environmental sciences, complemented by social sciences and humanities, preparing graduates for careers in environmental assessment, research, and sustainability. The core science curriculum includes molecular and cellular biology, organismal and ecosystem biology, general chemistry, human and physical geography, geology, mathematics, and statistics, equipping students with essential analytical and quantitative skills. The environmental toxicology focus emphasizes the study of chemical risks, ecotoxicology, xenobiotic disposition and toxicity, and environmental and green chemistry, alongside courses in diversity of life, genetics, scientific methods, and organic chemistry, allowing students to understand how biological systems interact with chemical pollutants. Complementing the sciences, students engage with sustainability through courses on principles and applications of environmental sustainability and may undertake honours projects or independent studies to gain hands-on research experience. The program also allows flexibility through elective courses and specialization options in physiology, ecology, molecular and cell biology, and interdisciplinary humanities, enabling students to tailor their education to specific interests. Requiring a total of 120 units, the program integrates rigorous scientific training with applied research and critical thinking, producing graduates capable of addressing complex environmental challenges, advancing sustainable practices, and contributing to public health and ecological policy initiatives.
