COURSE CURRICULUM

Biotechnology (BTEC) Honours program at Queen’s University is a comprehensive Subject of Specialization Plan (SSP) designed to prepare students for careers and research in this rapidly advancing field. The program’s core curriculum provides a solid foundation in molecular and cell biology, organismal biology, genetics, evolutionary biology, and analytical genomics, complemented by advanced courses in molecular biology, cell biology, and physiology. Students gain practical laboratory experience through courses in experimental techniques, plant and animal physiology, and molecular biology, fostering strong hands-on skills essential for biotechnological applications. Supporting courses in chemistry, mathematics, and statistics strengthen quantitative and analytical abilities, ensuring students can interpret complex biological data and engage in interdisciplinary problem-solving. The program offers flexibility through options such as comparative biochemistry, advanced research projects, or specialized courses at the 500-level, allowing students to tailor their studies to individual interests and career goals.
